WORKSHOPS

TILEMAKING-BOTANICAL THEME

JAN 30 OR JAN 31

SATURDAY OR SUNDAY, 10:00 TO 3:00

A great way to start in clay. Make a series of four tiles, each 4″ by 4,

using various hand building techniques, slab rolling, carving bas relief, stamping and more.

Add colors with underglazes and stains.  I will glaze finish to your preference.

Final firing and glaze firing takes 3 weeks to complete.

ONE day $65.00 ( 4 tiles) or TWO days  $120.00 (8 tiles)

Materials and and firing included.

Bring your lunch. I will provide tea, coffee and snacks.

An Introductory Workshop with emphasis on Exploration and Experimentation

with this exciting Ancient medium.  Various applications and techniques will be explored;

embedding, scafitto, inlay, graphite transfer,and gold leaf application. Information about

how to make your own encaustic medium and how to set up a workspace inexpensively.

Tuition $190.00

All materials included. You may want to bring your own 2D materials to personalize your work.

A THREE WEEKEND COURSE IN HOW TO DO IT!

BUILD YOUR SKILLS!

 

HEADS , HANDS AND FEET

MARCH 19 AND 20

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY  10: 00 to 4:00

Using Air Dry Paper clay, sculpt the head , hands and feet to be incorporated into your

figure.  We will discuss the pose and design of your figure, as well as how to create color for skin or surface.

Homework will be included to complete your figure.

 

ARMATURE

APRIL 2 AND 3

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 10:00 to 4:00

Create a Poseable Armature for your figure, adding your completed head, hands and feet.

Discuss how to make a base or how to incorporate found materials for a base.

Shape your figure, adding dimension and stature.  Homework will be included to complete your figure.

 

THE COMPLETE FIGURE,

CLOTHING, HAIRSTYLE, ACCESORIES.

APRIL 16 AND 17

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 10:00 to 4:00

With access to my extensive fabric, bead and button collections, create a fabulous

costume to complete your figure.  Learn how to make yarn wigs, clothing and accessories

to make your figure totally Unique!

Homework will be included to complete your figure.

COMPLETE COURSE is $600.00

Individual workshops are $250.00 each.

ALL Materials are included. You may bring personal materials to incorporate into your figure.

January 13  to March 2, Wednesday- Day- 9:30 to 12:30, Evening- 6:00 to 9:30

RAKU AND ALL THE ALTERNATIVES,

IN THE DAY CLASS I demonstrate New Techniques for Decorating your Surface  and Hand Building.

Raku Firing on the third week, weather permitting, and then every other week, depending on

the productivity of the students. Alternative firings are also offered, Ferric Chloride Saggar, Horse Hair, and Obvara.

I introduce project ideas and students work on individual projects. Supportive Class Discussions and Individual Consultations.

 

THE DECORATIVE SURFACE-

IN THE EVENING CLASS,  I am concentrating on using various surface techniques such as scrafitto and mishima,

wax resist and inlay color.. We will use porcelain or smooth stoneware, fired to cone 6. Through out this 8 week class

you will work with a material that challenges you to create beautiful surfaces while learning new techniques for designing,

layering color, creating texture and communicating meaning through your art.

THINK BIG!! What are the restrictions for making large pieces in a smaller Kiln?

How do you design a sculpture that you can take apart? We  will design and build larger pieces,

working within restrictions of kilns, shipping considerations and other factors for making large work.

Raku firing will continue, weather permiting. Cone 6 and Surface design, texture and glaze application will be explored.

Participate in supportive group discussions and individual consultations.
